How to Use Lumigan Eye Drops?

Lumigan Eye Drops or Bimatoprost are used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma or other eye diseases such as ocular hypertension. Reducing the constant high pressure inside the eye can help many eye problems such as blindness. The Lumigan Eye Drops works by balancing the amount of fluid within the eye to maintain a normal pressure.

How to use Lumigan Drops?

Lumigan drops must be applied in the affected eye(s), usually once a day or as directed by your doctor. Do not use Lumigan Drops more often because it may not give work as expected.

To apply eye drops, wash your hands first and avoid touching the tip of the dropper to avoid contamination. Do not let the tip of the dropper touch your eye to prevent any infection.

Lumigan eye drops contain a preservative that may stain contact lenses so if you use contact lenses, remove them before using your eye drops. Wait at least 15 minutes after each drop before putting your lenses back in.

Look up, tile your head back, and pull down the lower eyelid. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and let the drop fall inside your lower eyelid. After you feel the drop has entered your eye, gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Put gentle pressure on both corners of the eye to prevent the medication from draining out. Do not blink and do not rub your eye till the liquid has evenly dispersed. Keep the dropper covered with the cap provided, and keep the cap tightly closed.

If you are using other eye medications, wait for 5 minutes before applying other medications. Do not use eye ointments before using eye drops as they may not be absorbed well enough.

Do not miss the dose to get the most benefit from it. Always use Lumigan eye drops at the same time each day for maximum results. It is important to continue using bimatoprost even if your eyes show some recovery as most people with glaucoma or high pressure in the eye do show have symptoms.
